Your Inheritance

How was this inheritance made available to us? Who died?

"Jesus of Nazareth was a man accredited by God to you by miracles, wonders and signs, which God did among you through him, as you yourselves know. This man was handed over to you by God’s set purpose and foreknowledge; and you with the help of wicked men, put him to death by nailing him to the cross. But God raised him from the dead, freeing him from the agony of death, because it was impossible for death to keep its hold on him."

(Acts 2:22-24)

Brothers, I can tell you confidently that the patriarch David died and was buried, and his tomb is there to this day. But he was a prophet and knew that God had promised him, on oath, that he would place one of his descendants on his throne. Seeing what was ahead, he spoke of the resurrection of the Christ, that he was not abandoned to the grave, nor did his body see decay. God has raised this Jesus to life, and we are all witnesses of the fact. Exalted to the right hand of God, he has received from the Father the promised Holy Spirit and has poured out what you now see and hear."

(Acts 2:29-33)

"Therefore let all Israel be assured of this: God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Christ."

(Acts 2:36)

How do we partake in this great salvation and the unsearchable riches which are in Christ Jesus?

"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son."

(John 3:16-18)

"That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved."

(Rom. 10:9-10)

"Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ so that your sins may be forgiven."

(Acts 2:38)

So, Dear Heavenly Father, I come to you in the name of Jesus, for your Word says, "…whoever comes to me I will never drive away (John 6:37). So I know you won’t cast me out, but take me in, and I thank you for it. You also said in your Word, whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved" (Rom. 10:13). I am calling on your name, so I know you have saved me now. I do confess with my mouth, aloud, that "Jesus is Lord." I believe in my heart Jesus Christ is the Son of God. I believe he was raised from the dead so I can have life with God. And I confess Him now as MY Lord. Because your Word says, " For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified…" (Rom. 10:10) " …in him we might become the righteousness of God" (2 Cor. 5:21)… and I am saved. THANK YOU, LORD, for loving me and making me your child.

What are we to do with our new "position in Christ," and how do we spend our inheritance?

Find a church or group where God’s word is brought forth in POWER and the demonstrations

"And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another – and all the more as you see the Day approaching."

(Heb. 10:24-25)

"When I came to you, brothers, I did not come with eloquence or superior wisdom as I proclaimed to you the testimony about God. For I resolved to know nothing while I was with you except Jesus Christ and him crucified. I came to you in weakness and fear, and with much trembling. My message and my preaching were not wise and persuasive words, but with a demonstration of the Spirit’s power, so that your faith might not rest on men’s wisdom but on God’s power."

1 Corinthians 2:1-5)

"Now, Lord, consider their threats and enable your servants to speak your word with great boldness. Stretch out your hand to heal and perform miraculous signs and wonders through the name of your holy servant Jesus." "After they prayed, the place where they were meeting was shaken. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God boldly."

(Acts 4:29-31)

"If anybody thinks he is a prophet or spiritually gifted, let him acknowledge that what I am writing to you is the Lord’s command. If he ignores this, he himself will be ignored. Therefore, my brothers, be eager to prophesy, and do not forbid speaking in tongues. But everything should be done in a fitting and orderly way.
